Saint Gabriel's Church

St. Gabriel's Church in East Berlin

Our Worship Life
Holy Eucharist Rite II is celebrated each Sunday at 8:30 am. Our worship is dignified but informal. We include children of all ages in our worship and welcome their ‘joyful noise.’ Our services feature music from the 1982 Hymnal and on occasion we enjoy an anthem or instrumental offering from one of our congregation’s musicians, in addition to the prepared prelude and postlude offered by our organist.

We welcome lay leader participation as readers, intercessors and altar guild members.

The sacrament of healing is offered on the first Sunday of the month.

Formation
St. Gabriel's sponsors the Partner Parish youth group called Generation Next. They meet on selected Tuesday evenings. Each meeting includes a meal, a lesson and fellowship.

Each fall and spring, classes are offered for adults on weekday evenings. Recent offerings have included a Lenten study focusing on The Lives of American Saints, a six-week study called Believing and Belonging, the Basics of the Episcopal Church Life and Worship; the Gospel of Matthew: Christology, Eschatology; the books of Genesis and Revelation; and a series on prayer titled: “Finding Stillness: Open your Hearts and Hope.

Bible Study is held on Tuesdays at noon. All are welcome.

The Partner Parishes sponsor an active group of the Daughters of the King who meet monthly on Saturday mornings.

Outreach
We are a “Covenant to Care parish that participates in the Adopt-a-Social-Worker program.  We also are active in  supporting the Bishops Fund for Children, the Berlin Food Pantry, Church Street Eats, and the Seamens Church Institute.

Fellowship
St. Gabriels loves a good party! Our signature event is the Twelfth Night Dinner held each year on January 6th that begins with a service of Epiphany Lessons and Carols and continues with a prime rib dinner. We also host the Partner Parish Cabaret Night each year, potluck suppers and a Halloween dance.
